PERINATAL EPIDEMIOLOGY Maternal anaemia and preterm birth: a prospective cohort study

چکیده
Methods This was a secondary analysis of data from a population-based prospective cohort study in 13 counties of East China (1993–96). All singleton live births delivered at 20–44 weeks to women with at least one haemoglobin measure during pregnancy were included (n1⁄4 160 700). Risk of preterm birth (<37 weeks) was examined by clinical subtypes, namely, preterm premature rupture of membranes (PROM), spontaneous preterm labour and medically indicated preterm birth. Haemoglobin changes across trimesters were assessed as proxy of haemo-dilution and haemo-concentration. Multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression models were fitted.

Of these, 313 were anaemic (haemoglobin <11 g/dl in labour and on two previous occasions in current pregnancy). A total of 316 women had haemoglobin >11 g/dl at all times in pregnancy and were labelled as no...

متن کاملAnaemia of pregnancy, perinatal outcomes and children's developmental vulnerability: a whole-of-population study.
BACKGROUND There is limited longitudinal data from high-income countries on the sequelae of anaemia during pregnancy. The aim of this study is to examine whether anaemia of pregnancy is associated with adverse perinatal outcomes and with children's developmental vulnerability. METHODS We conducted a population-based study to link routinely collected government administrative data that involve...
